The Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act (WIOA)
The WIOA program provides funding for the retraining of laid-off workers who qualify for these services.
WIOA’s main objective is to strengthen and improve the nation’s public workforce, with a special focus on the youth and those with financial problems.
The DOL works along with the U.S. Department of Education and Health and Human Services to distribute information and resources to States, non-profits, and other grant programs.
Rapid Response / Dislocated Worker Program
The main objective of the Rapid Response program is to help laid-off workers with a career change.
The Rapid Response team provides information on the ways to keep money coming in with unemployment insurance, as well as health insurance options, upgrading worker’s skills, training resources, and more.
People enrolled in this program can attend an orientation meeting where they get help in several areas — Career counseling and help looking for jobs, Help with resume writing , workshops focusing on interviewing skills, and Unemployment Insurance information.
Apprenticeship Office Finder
The Apprenticeship Office Finder program combines on-the-job training along with classroom instruction, where workers can learn both the practical and theoretical parts of a highly skilled job.
Older Worker Program Finder
The Older Worker Program Finder program is led by the Senior Community Service Employment Program (SCSEP) and helps older workers find part-time work and training in community service jobs.
Youth Program Finder
If you’re between the ages of 14 and 24, you may be able to find a job, career, and training assistance at this local youth program.
