Career Fields That Pay Big

If you’re not satisfied with your job and are thinking about changing careers, this article will go over a few ideas you should consider. Many people get into job paths they thought were a good fit at first, but discover they want to use their talents somewhere else. Let’s go over some career fields that can become very lucrative for the right person.

HealthCare

Some of the highest-paying jobs in the country are in the healthcare industry. And you don’t need to become a doctor to bring home a sizeable paycheck. A degree in nursing, for example, provides a competitive salary with less schooling required. Registered nurses had an average pay of $77,600 in 2021 according to the US Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS).

While wage growth can be slower than other fields, there are plenty of opportunities to earn more later in your career. If you get your master’s degree, for example, and become a nurse practitioner, you could earn a salary of $123,780 according to the BLS.

Science

Science-related jobs have some of the highest salaried positions in any job industry. A bachelor’s degree in aeronautics or astronautics, for instance, has an average wage of $88,000 according to Payscale, as of May 2022.

A bachelor’s degree in biology or a related science can also be a starting point for in-demand careers in healthcare. A microbiologist, for example, with a bachelor’s degree earned an average  pay of $79,260 in 2021, according to the BLS.

Accounting

The median salary for accountants in 2021 was $77,250 according to the BLS. But it pays off even more to become a certified public accountant (CPA). These are accountants that handle financial statements for corporations and other individuals. Keep in mind that you’ll need to pass a four-part exam before becoming a CPA.

Finance

Financial Analysts (FA’s)  help corporations and financial institutions with large investments and investment strategies. For FA’s with a bachelor’s degree, the average salary is $81,410 in 2021. Financial managers can work in investments, securities, and insurance companies as well.
